Welcome Address
Dear members of the European Thyroid Association,
dear members of our sister associations, the ATA, LATS, and AOTA,
dear Guests,
On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, I’m delighted to welcome you most warmly to the
46th Annual Meeting of the ETA which is being held in the Athens Conservatory, the “Odeíon Athinón”.
The Greek medical community and particularly the Hellenic Society of Endocrinology are proud to be hosting the ETA once again in Athens after 26 long years. Over these decades, the ETA has developed from being a scientific association of 300-400 members to one of approximately 1000 members, this making it the second largest thyroid organization in the world.
The venue of the 46th meeting is an emblematic building, characterized by the clear and simple lines of Bauhaus, indeed, one of the two Bauhaus buildings in Greece. It has been renovated in the last 2-3 years and is the seat of the Athens Philharmonic Orchestra. We felt that this educational institution dedicated to the performing arts was an ideal location to host the ETA Meeting of the ‘’Art of the Thyroid”. The Ωδείο is in the heart of Athens, close to several museums, the National Gardens, Syntagma Square, the main social and political hub of the city, Aristotle’s Lyceum just behind this building, the upscale district of Kolonaki with its sophisticated shops, and gourmet restaurants.
We are not far from the Acropolis, a perennial landmark of democracy and of the passion for scientific knowledge and research, and of the values of Western Antiquity, which today represent the crowning values of the ETA.
The city of Athens, bursting with vibrancy and contrasts, with its friendly people, heartily greets the hundreds of members and attendees at the 46th AM ETA 2024.
Welcome!
Καλώς ήλθατε!
